Effectively charges both phone and spare battery but..

Pros: Charges both phone and spare battery and functions as stand for phone.

This is a basic device that effectively charges both the phone and a spare battery simultaneously. It works quite well. I would have given it more stars if it were not for the following:
1. To charge the phone you slide the phone upright into the stand. A small male micro usb inserts into the phone and thus, charges it. However, the tolerances of the back of the charger relative to the placement of the micro usb could be tighter. I.e., when inserted, there is a small amount of play that could result in bending the usb port on your phone. This should be no problem if you are very careful, but to this user I feel that should be more snug. Please note however, I have not experienced any damage to my phone thus far, but I dont plan to use that part of the charger for the next reason..
2. The blue l.e.d. is extremely bright. This is the indicator that shows you are charging the phone, and not the spare. The spare l.e.d. is not too bright and varies between green/amber to show charged or not. I could be wrong about those colors because I am red/green color blind. I wish the tech world would realize that some 8 percent of men are red/green colorblind..anyway, the blue l.e.d. is so bright that is shines a big blue spotlight on my ceiling at night and is too bright for nighttime use.
3. To charge the phone and the battery you must use 2 plugs. Thats right. Instead of one plug to plug in, you have to plug in two plugs. One is a usb thats permanently attached and the other is a micro usb port to which you use your original charger.
Overall it does the job, but is not particularly elegant. If not for the above mentioned things I would have given it 5 stars.

Clumsy at best, CANT CHARGE THE PHONE OUT OF THE BOX
User: bill k, Nov 29, 2010
Pros: -
Cons: WHATS IN THE BOX WONT CHARGE A PHONE.
You have to plug in TWO cables to charge the separate battery.
But wait, it comes with a charger, so plug that in and - nothing. That wont charge the phone. that charges the battery. The charger cable is all one piece, so you cant plug the cable for the phone into the charger that ships with the cradle,
because the charger has a different USB plug than the
fixed cable to charge the phone.
Let me say that again. The cradle is shipped with a charger. But there is NO WAY to charge the phone with the charger shipped.
The cradles charger for the phone has a cable permanently mounted,
So you can only charge the phone with a regular "A" USB charger with a female plug (like on computers). If you have a charger available with other plugs, you are out of luck.
If you plan on always plugging to a computer this is ok.
If you need a cradle charger for a room without a computer, this is a waste of money, you have to buy yet another charger.
And it has to be a charger with a female USB A connector,
any old usb charger wont work.
Oh, and it has two lights. A big blue one for phone charging, except its right by the battery connector, so a logical person
might expect the light by the battery means the battery is being charged? Nope.
Be sure to plug in the cable attached to the cradle to charge your phone, and make sure your phones charge indicator is indicating.
good luck.
